When you arrived to Castelsardo it's impossible not to remain any hit. There’s a small defended medieval village on a cape. It appears evocatively and in all its splendor it arrives you to the curve of “Spiny Tip”: the little port, the castle, the old houses carefullied lay down on the cliff not only give to the tourists (and to the others!!!!!) a wonderful welcome.

On the tip of the cape the ancient Rocca, encircled from walls. Inside they are interlaced ancient and tightened alleys in which a dive in the past must be forgotten the automobile and be made. And' possible to visit the ancient castle of the Doria, restored and used after museum. From the terrace of the castle it is enjoyed a wonderful view. In the limpid days, between the gulls flying in the blu sky, it can be admired the form of the entire Gulf of the Asinara and the contour of the Corsica island. The beach of the country is situated beside the little port. In the press ones there are lots of beaches of rocks ones and sand who give panoramas from postcard where the sea contains a marvellous variety of blue and greens Lu Bagnu, bathing fraction of Castelsardo, is found to the feet of the cape.

To 4 km from the historical centre of the medievalvillage, optimally it is served from supermarkets, stores, restaurants and every any service. With little minutes of road it is possible to catch up on foot large extended of sand beach bathed from the transparent water of the sea of Sardinia or small rock beaches. Far away from the confusion of the glamour site, it is pointed out on the Gulf of the Asinara and road between Stintino and Santa Teresa di Gallura. To 30 km from the Tourist port of Porto Torres and to 50 km from the airport of Alghero he is easy to go by covering roads that they fill up the eyes and the heart!!

The origins of this town are quite ancient; it was founded by the powerful Genoese family of Doria around 1000 AD giving the name of Castelgenovese. Without doubt, the old part of town presents the visitor with most interesting corners and a really authentic Sardinian atmosphere. Its old buildings and narrow streets have been kept as they were, including the wonderful churches and the Castle, which was built on top of a hill in a dominant position, from where there is a wide view of the Asinara gulf. To look at it from any part of town, it still holds its power, and one can imagine the time when it was the hub of the village life. The powerful walls were inpregnable because they were built on the rock above the sea, and even the windows were cut into it. Today the fortress is being used as a museum, to show the intricate art of basket weaving during the centuries, with specimens from times by gone. If you visit Castelsardo, do not fail to visit the museum, to see the rich work on show, and to admire the wonderful view from the top of the castle. Around the castle the town has developed, with the ancient churches, and the narrow streets linked to one another by rows of large steps.The archaeological sites, namely the Domus de Janas and the Elephant Rock are an important testimony of the Neolithic period. The Nuraghi of Spighìa e Spaddaggiu can also be visited, and the remains of Roman settlements.
